Shah Yousuf trained in Information Technology and Graphic Design and began his working life as an IT engineer. Very quickly he expanded his horizons – developing expertise in marketing. He worked in various posts in businesses connected with the media (print and TV), print and graphic design.

Shah was consistently involved in local community affairs. He founded the weekly London Bangla and acted as its editor for several years. The newspaper served the whole community, covering local, national and international news as well as arts and lifestyle material. It was the first bilingual weekly (English/Bengali) publication in the UK – innovating to relate to emerging changes in its target community.

Shah also founded LB24 -his latest innovation. This OnDemand British ethnic tv channel broadcasts through a dedicated app, social media and its own website.

Shah Yousuf was nominated in the category of “Ibn Battuta Award for Excellence in Media” by The Muslim News Awards 2018.

Shah received the SPECIAL RECOGNITION AWARD 2018 for innovation in the UK Bangla Media in the field of modern technology and creativity from TheSunriseToday.com.

Shah received a Tower Hamlets Civic Award in 2009 for outstanding contributions to the community, with the citation specifically praising his achievements in establishing London Bangla.

In 2010 he received a Community Safety Award for tackling and reducing Anti-Social Behaviour.

In 2015, in recognition of his work, Shah’s Facebook Page was verified in recognition of his role as an authentic public figure.

Shah served as Chair of the Chicksand East Tenants and Residents Association (Bricklane, East London) for several years.

Shah was the target of legal action in 2011 and sold off the title London Bangla in order to concentrate on defending himself. The title continued to appear, under new publishers. Shah was rewarded in March 2012 when the CPS dropped their case against him at the last minute, after a final review of their own evidence revealed that it undermined their own case. A parallel libel action was settled by consent in 2015.
